Mentor (Human Services Background) Part Time
Professional role models skilled in working with difficult youth are needed to mentor youth referred by The Department of Children and Families and office of Juvenile Probation. Staff work with an assigned client one to one in the community, and provide support, develop and monitor behavioral goals, participate in diverse recreational activities (recreation stipend provided in addition to hourly pay), and submit written repots.
PRIORITY NEEDS: Qualified males who can work in the following geographic areas: Middlesex County, New Britain, Meriden, and the CT shoreline.
Requirements: A Bachelor Degree in human services (education degree acceptable) or in lieu thereof, 7 years experience working with youth. Clean criminal conviction record, child protective services background check, and DMV check required. First aid and CPR certification also required (Training provided)
Hourly wage: $14.00 - $15.00

Kids' Korner Before and After School Youth Leaders
If you enjoy working with children and are a positive role model, we want you!
The YMCA is recruiting youth leaders in our Middletown, Portland, and Cromwell before and after school programs for the 2009-2010 school year. Candidates must be positive role models who are enthusiastic about working with school age children. Job duties include planning, organizing and facilitating developmentally appropriate recreational, enrichment, and learning activities.
Requirements: Applicant must have experience working with school age children,
a positive attitude, strong work ethic
and reliable transportation. Staff are required to pass a criminal and DCF background check and have a current TB test and physical examination.
Program hours are Monday through Friday, 7-9 am and/or 3-6 pm.
Hourly Wage : $8.50-$10.00 per hour based on experience

Lifeguard (part time)
American Red Cross Lifeguard and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or YMCA Lifeguard certified applicants are welcome to apply to join our aquatic staff. Shifts range from 2-4 hours in length and can be worked 'back-to-back' for more hours. Pay range is $9.00-$12.00 per hour based on experience. Current openings on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings with more shifts opening up every week.
