John has had a passion for martial arts & fitness since he was a teen. After studying martial arts and achieving his Black Belt Instructor Certification and teaching for 2 years under his Sensei (Martial arts master & Instructor), John opened his own dojo, Knights Academy of Martial Arts in Meriden, CT where he managed the business and taught for 10 years. John eventually went on to do other things and while working out at the gym people would see him exercising and ask if he could show them whatever exercise he was doing. He would and they asked if he was a trainer. John would say no, just someone who loves to stay in shape. After many people telling John he should become a trainer, John decided to take the leap. He went to Three Rivers Community College, Norwich, CT and earned a certificate in Human Anatomy & Physiology in 2010. Then went on to earn his Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach and Sport Yoga and additional fitness Certifications through NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Association) John also holds a 250 Hatha Yoga Instructor Certification with Aura Wellness Center, Attleboro, MA  and a Sports Nutrition Coaching Certification with Precision Nutrition. He has been working at gyms and fitness facilities through CT since 2011. John is a Middletown resident and has joined the The Middlesex YMCA staff as a Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Instructor. Some of his specialties are functional training, strength & kettlebell training and senior fitness.
