Covid 19 The Y Intends to Stay Open

March 13, 2020

Dear Y Community,

The Y intends to remain open unless we are instructed to close. We are committed to the health and wellness of our members and want you to have a safe place to exercise and de-stress during this very challenging time. We appreciate your positive feedback and support. We also appreciate that our Y members are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this virus. We must take good care of ourselves and make an extra effort to care for others during this challenging time.

Given the current additional and appropriate attention on reducing the spread of germs and viruses, we want you to know that the Middlesex Y receives and responds to public health updates provided by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Department of Health (DOH).

In our on-going effort to support your personal health and well-being, we have activated the following additional measures:

  • NATIONWIDE MEMBERSHIP – Kindly limit visits to your local Y for the next two weeks as Nationwide Membership benefits will be paused

  • DAY/GUEST PASSES – All day and guest passes will be paused for the next 2 weeks

  • CLEANING – Our facilities staff and cleaning crews have significantly ramped up cleaning efforts to ensure shared surfaces and equipment are disinfected on a continual basis. We continue to ask all members to clean exercise equipment surfaces after each use.

  • PROGRAMS/GROUP EXERCISE PROGRAMS - Due to the speed at which we are receiving news, and the fact that this could have an effect on our programs from day to day, we are posting all changes and updates on our website. All changes in programming, events, schedules and facility operational status will be posted here.

Ensuring everyone’s health and safety requires all of us to do our part. As members of the Y family, we encourage you to do your part by:

  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the restroom, after your workout, before eating, and after blowing your nose or covering your sneezes and coughs.

  • Stay home when you are sick or not feeling well; coughing, sneezing, and/or higher than normal temperature.
