Togetherhood Week Surpasses Goal

"What an INCREDIBLE TOGETHERHOOD Week. We blew our $13,000 goal out of the water! This will have such an impact on our ability to help more members of our community. Be proud! It's a good day at the Middlesex YMCA!" Heather Chandor, VP of Operations announced to the staff on March 29th. "The generous support of our Annual Campaign enables so many more members of our community to gain access to our Y and all the amazing programs we have to offer. Our members and staff are the foundation of this wonderful YMCA and we are so grateful for those that took that extra step and believing in all the work that we do. Donations made this week will make a direct positive impact on this community - THANK YOU!!"

Healthy Lifestyles staff raised $1,250 = 1,250 pushups!

Thank you to all the members who challenged Craig, Lee, Joy, Sarah, Sue and Jeremy to pushups! The energy was amazing! We'd love to add some quotes from the amazing members who chose to get INVOLVED in the 2019 Togetherhood Pushup Challenge! Email us lheidorn@midymca.org

Little Ms. Chloe donated lots to participate in challenging the fitness staff to do 25 push-ups. She was proudly walking around with her Y bag of push-up coupons. To add to the fun spirit of the week she offered to do push-ups TOGETHER with Craig. Pretty sure these two had very different ideas of how to do pushups TOGETHER!!

The Bake Sale raised $364.50

Active Older Adult Volunteer Coordinator, Cindy Sullivan shared, "Many thanks to Donna and Shirley for all of the time and energy they put into the Togetherhood Week Bake Sale this past weekend! They were here Saturday and Sunday, and made $320 for the Annual Campaign!! A huge thank you also to all of you who baked and contributed items!" Visit the ACTIVE OLDER ADULT page on our website to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

The Aquatics lap swim challenge raised $350

Nine members swam 36 miles in just one week!

Kelly at the Welcome Center shared a great testimony from swimmers, Alex and Katie K, "Katie said she hadn’t realized just how hard a mile is to do compared to do at her age now compared to when she was younger. They both said it helped them keep track of their pace and they enjoyed seeing their time improve throughout the week, as well as push themselves to get to 5 miles, which they hadn’t been doing. They now want to continue to track their pace and push themselves to accomplish more miles." Congrats to all the swimmers! Hope your experience was as positive as Ned who emailed this feedback, "Good morning, I completed mile 5 this morning. Thank you great program, great people!" Visit the AQUATICS page on our website to learn more.

A new donor shared that she was interested in donating because of the swim challenge! She said, "I was on my way to the Y today and was just reminiscing about how I used to get a t-shirt for completing a 100 mile swim." She enjoyed doing that so much, that when Y staff, Kelly mentioned the swim challenge, she got really excited and said she didn’t even care about the prizes we were offering, just the option to participate in a fun swim challenge.

“All kids should know how to swim. Period. It’s so necessary for their safety. I’m especially giving because my daughter Jessie, a former Y lifeguard and swim team coach, is so adamant about this.” said Louise P. as she made her donation to Kelly at the Welcome Center.

ACTIVE Y Kids like Caleb and Simon “get it” and have raised an impressive $300 during

Togetherhood Week because they want to get INVOLVED in giving back! How does your Y kid give back? Send us an email so we can celebrate your child! lheidorn@midymca.org "Those are my boys! They make me proud. They truly understand my passion for the Middlesex YMCA and Northern Middlesex YMCA Swim Lessons - Carla MacKay, Swim Lesson Coordinator.

YMCA Barracuda Swimmer, Jenna stepped up big time by swimming 5 miles during the Togetherhood swim challenge and raised $375 in sponsors who supported and encouraged her with comments in her facebook fundraiser. "Congratulations Jenna!" "Great job!" "So proud of you!" "Well done!" Thank you to all who supported her and help to make us a #BetterUs.

Lori Lodge, Director of Fund Developed expressed her gratitude, "Everyone did such an amazing job! Thank you. I would like to add that $12,547 of the Togetherhood Donations were run through Birdies for Charity. The Y will receive a 15% match which will total $1,882. That money will come to us in September after the Travelers Championship is over. Thank you for all those who embraced the Birdies for Charity opportunity so that the Y can leverage those matching dollars! Every little bit helps us to reach our $300,000 goal for 2019." It's not too late to make a donation to the Y Annual Giving Campaign through Birdies for Charity. Travelers Championship will send your donation plus a 15% match to the YMCA in June 2019.
